Contact Lenses

How to insert contact lenses

  • Make sure the lens is clean and that you have rubbed the lens to remove any debris. Rinse to clean properly.
  • Place the lens on the tip of your index finger
  • Make sure the lens is right way around (if its inside-out the lens will make a saucer shape, if it’s the right way around it will make a cup shape)
  • Use the same hands’ middle finger to pull down the lower eye lid
  • Use the other hand to pull open the upper eye lid
  • Make sure you can see the full eye in the mirror
  • Gently place the lens directly on the eye. NB – don’t the lens on the eye. It will fold over your finger
  • Once the lens is on the eye, look down and slowly release the lower eye lid and then the upper lid.
  • Blink a few times until the lens is centred. If the lens is scratching – slide it over to the white part of your eye and blink a few times
